There’s a reason liposuction has remained one of the top body-contouring procedures in the industry. About the Liposuction Procedure

One of the main reasons for liposuction’s popularity is its versatility. Rather than being limited to sculpting and redefining one area of the body, it can create sweeping transformations and enhanced results that many of us can only dream of achieving with standard diet and exercise strategies. Liposuction in Fort Worth removes excess fat from targeted areas such as the abdomen, thighs, hips, buttocks, arms, and neck. It can also be performed alone or combined with other cosmetic procedures to achieve comprehensive results.

It is important to note that liposuction is not an obesity treatment. It is a body contouring procedure, and trust us when we say there is a difference. It may also not be the best solution for irregular body contours (i.e., overly stretched skin from pregnancy) on its own. That said, when combined with other procedures, such as a tummy tuck, liposuction has been shown to lead to excellent results.

How Is Liposuction in Fort Worth Performed?

Liposuction in Fort Worth is typically performed under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia, depending on the extent of correction needed. Board-certified plastic surgeons Dr. Sanderson and Dr. Braswell start by making incisions (often as small as 1/4 inch) in inconspicuous areas, and a thin tube called a cannula is inserted to loosen and suction out the fat.

Our doctors are masters of their craft and do everything they can to facilitate fat removal in the most efficient way possible to minimize bruising. The incisions are then closed with sutures, and a compression garment is worn to support healing.

What Does Recovery from Liposuction Look Like?

Recovery from liposuction in Fort Worth varies depending on the extent of the procedure. That said, most patients can return to normal activities within a few days to a week. Swelling and bruising are common but typically resolve within a few weeks. To support recovery and smooth the skin, it is important to wear special garments that apply pressure to your surgical site. Our staff will discuss these options with you. The final results become visible once the swelling subsides, revealing a more sculpted, contoured body.

Are you tired of stubborn fat that won’t go away no matter what you try? Additional Information About Liposuction

As previously stated, the beauty behind liposuction is its ability to remove excess fat deposits that otherwise can’t be eliminated through even the most strict diets and exercise routines. Commonly treated areas include problem areas you likely know all too well: abdomen, thighs, hips, buttocks, arms, and neck. By addressing all of these areas, we can significantly enhance your figure.

Remove Stubborn Fat: Effectively removes localized fat deposits resistant to diet and exercise.
Enhance Body Contours: Sculpts and shapes the body, creating a more defined, proportional appearance.
Provide Long-Lasting Results: Long-lasting results are achieved when combined with a healthy lifestyle.

Many of our patients also consider having a tummy tuck at the same time as their liposuction. This ensures more well-rounded results. Dr. Sanderson and Dr. Braswell are experienced plastic surgeons who prioritize patient care by understanding each individual’s goals. Only after meeting with you and addressing all your wants, goals, and concerns will we tailor a plan that’s right for you.

Am I a Good Candidate for Liposuction?

Ideal candidates for liposuction are individuals with localized fat deposits who are in good overall health and have realistic expectations. We will discuss your goals during your consultation and determine if this procedure is right for you.

Liposuction FAQs

How long should I wait to exercise after liposuction?

As with many post-surgery recovery plans, patients are encouraged to move around as much as possible, including light walking, to promote circulation. As for more vigorous exercise (weight training, high-intensity workouts, etc.), the answer depends on the extent of your procedure and how quickly you are recovering. We typically advise waiting 2 to 4 weeks before vigorous exercise.

How does liposuction compare to non-surgical fat reduction treatments?

There are plenty of quality non-surgical methods to reduce excess and stubborn fat deposits. That said, nothing is as precise and comprehensive as liposuction. Not only does it provide immediate removal, but the procedure also allows for precise sculpting and predictable results you can’t find anywhere else.

Does liposuction improve skin elasticity?

No. Liposuction removes fat but does not directly tighten skin. If you also have skin elasticity issues, your board-certified plastic surgeon will likely recommend another procedure.

How soon can I see the final results of liposuction?

Swelling and bruising are common but typically resolve within a few weeks. The final results become visible once the swelling subsides, revealing a more sculpted, contoured body.

How long do results from liposuction last?

Any fat cells that are removed will not return. That’s the good news. As for long-term results, patients who maintain a stable weight through a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle habits will enjoy their results for a longer period of time.

What is the difference between liposuction and a tummy tuck?

Liposuction removes excess fat. A tummy tuck removes excess skin and tightens and repairs loose and separated abdominal wall muscles. Generally, liposuction is combined with a tummy tuck for better results.
